Interesting artists found during spring cleaning - 1

During spring cleaning I decided to throw away a big stack of magazines. My wife wanted the floor to be visible. But I still wanted to remember some of the most interesting artworks and artists. So these are my notes. - I'm always amazed at how many good artists there are and how many different ideas exist.
1) The stark minimalist art of Fernanda Gomes.
2) The strange obsessions of Paul McCarthy. Well known in Rotterdam for his Santa Claus with buttplug statue.
3) The Cosmopolitan Chicken Project by Koen van Mechelen.
4) Cassette tape cyanotypes by Christian Marclay. Also known for his plunderphonics music pieces.

5) Mikael Olsson photographed and documented the deserted house of the Swedish architect Bruno Mathsson.

6) A haunting picture by Adriana Lozano.

7) Exploration and photography around the disappearing Aral Sea by Anton Ginzburg.

8) The monastic landscape art made by Julie Brook. She lives on lonely islands and makes site-specific artworks in those far away places.

From a strange planet - 23

Take a road trip along the E16! In corona times this is a safe way to travel.

Searching for a specific camera (see: From a strange planet - 22) I followed the E16 starting in Bergen and ending in Sand / Jessheim. And then from Honefoss to Sandvika. I also took some side roads.

There are beautiful landscapes along the way. I had to hurry because the evening light was getting dimmer and the pictures were getting less interesting. But I will be back on another day and then I'll start the download script.

From a strange planet - 20

A love poem for E8 Grønbakken.

There is a glow.
The glow reminds me of Thomas Ligotti.
Everything reminds me of Thomas Ligotti.
The glow is outside and not inside.
Is that a problem?

In the evening the glow grows.
It gets stronger.
It gets bigger.
It occupies the area.
It erases and blinds.
It makes white. It makes snow.

There is a curve in the road.
At night other lights appear.
They have sparks.
They speak with the glow.

There are poles.
Two poles, one pole.
They stand in the middle.
They do nothing.

Hey snow, why do you cover everything?
Why are your mounds so round? So light?
Why is the shed so straight? So dark?

There is a curve in the road.
Hey curve, why do you change direction?
Why is your arc so round?
Why is the shed so straight?

There is snow.
There is a mountain in the distance.
Why is it far?
Why is it there and not here?
It is far because it looks like the surface of Mars.
A Martian mountain.

The snow melts.
Goodbye snow, goodbye winter.
I hate to see you go.

Before there was light.
Now the road turns dark.
Now the curve turns dark.
The shed likes that.

And there are two small sheds.
And a house in the background.
They talk.
And listen.
And wait.
For winter.
For snow.

There is dust.
There is sun.
The dust is cold. The sun is cold.
It's Martian dust.
The background is green.
There is life on Mars.

There are potholes.
They turn to puddles when it rains.
When there is no rain, there are no puddles.
But the potholes are still there.
Now invisible. But present.

And waiting.
Waiting for rain.
Waiting for snow.
On Mars there is enough time to wait.

From a strange planet - 21

A love poem for Fv510 Rege.

There is sphere and a church.

In the evening there are lights, columns of lights.
The church has eyes.
There is a tower, there is a hill. The church is on the hill.
There are clouds, they rise over the hill, behind the church.
Sometimes fog hides the church.
In the evening the church is a silhouette, a triangle of dark against the light.

On the horizon there is a sphere. It is white.
When the sun shines, it is a miniature planet. It shines.
In the evening it fades into the sky.
In the evening it is dark against the sky, an eclipse of the setting sun.
In fog it disappears.
In blue evenings it turns blue.
In the night there is no sphere, only darkness.

The landscape is flat.
There is grass besides the road.
There are fields with sheep.

Sometimes signs appear beside the road.
They have their messages hidden. They look the other way.
There are sheep.
The sheep look at the signs. They read the signs.
They don't tell us what they say.

There is a camera.
It watches the hill.
It watches the church.
It watches the sphere. It sees the horizon.

There are farmhouses.
You can see the church through their driveways.

The church is white. The tower is white.
There is a parking lot and a graveyard.
The graveyard is full, the parking lot is empty.

There is snow in the fields and water.
During the day the light changes. White spots appear and disappear.
The field is silent but it is not static.
It is not passive, it has a message.

We walk into the fields.
We walk up the hill on narrow roads, through hedges and green fields.
The sphere comes closer, it is white, it is high.

The road splits, but we can't reach the sphere.

Someone has been here in winter, when the sphere was grey and the landscape was gray.
You could see the stones, the old stones.

In summer the sphere shines like a small sun, like a small planet.
Like Venus. It radiates.
The sphere knows the weather, knows the rain.

So much to see in one picture from a random camera.
So much to explore, so much to discover.
The world is endless.
